v3 sample.py version error #442

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Follow the steps in v3/README to run sample.py
2. Python reports KeyError: '1.0'
3. Change '1.0' in line 20 of v3/sample.py to 'v1', and it works fine

Work on the v3 code has moved to:
