+1 for developing explanation in "What is LaTeX." Consider also adding a line (or more) about which communities LaTeX is useful for and why e.g., "LaTeX is the standard for communicating and publishing documents in many STEM fields. The ability to combine text with images, tables, equations, and citations makes LaTeX useful to students, researchers, and practitioners in humanities and social sciences domains as well." A link to the LaTeX project site or other documentation may be useful too.
Suggestion to also include a section in this episode to introduce the Overleaf interface and its advantages as an online editor (e.g., no need for installation, preloaded packages and templates, version tracking, etc.) to help both instructors and learners orient themselves to the tool and understand why they are learning in Overleaf rather than MiKTeX or some other distribution.
Very happy to see a LaTeX lesson is being developed! Suggestion for the introduction episode - What is LaTeX: It is often useful to emphasize that format settings (in the preamble) and content are separated in LaTeX which makes it very easy to re-format documents (frequently used quote: "authors should solely have to take care of the content and not have to deal with the document formatting"). The result of mastering LaTeX is a professional looking typography with very little effort, including the option to add stable cross-references, which is extremely useful for complex documents. A big advantage of Overleaf is the option to write collaboratively on one document but here the limitations in gratis accounts might have to be mentioned.
