Develop content on pronoun use #1424

this issue may belong in an alternative location, but I'm opening it so we don't lose it while we decide where it goes.

In the prior update, one aim was to reduce the number of links to outside resources, to ward against link rot and improve control over maintenance. I'm ok with adding these for now, but we should consider building our own resources in this area.

"this area" is pronoun use

We should also consider how much of what we have should be lesson material vs (inline) instructor notes.

Adding to this section :)

Yesterday in our training one of the participants reminded us that it's important not to use the expression "preferred pronouns" because it's not a preference, but instead is a part of identity. They shared this external link as well: https://uwm.edu/lgbtrc/support/gender-pronouns/

If you're updating the instructor notes about pronoun usage, I think it would be helpful to include a statement along the lines of "When asking participants to introduce themselves, consider asking them to share their name, pronouns (and if there's a time that's best NOT to use them) and institutional affiliation. Mention that if anyone doesn't want to share their pronouns, that's completely fine, we will refer to people by their name instead."
