+1! -> new instructor notes (until addressed in curriculum)? :)
+1 I also advise and invite people to come and test Zoom beforehand and always show them the breakout feature during testing as this is one of the features not often seen in other video conferencing tools (but not many people come to testing). Still would prefer people to introduce themselves to everyone participating in the training so maybe we could think of something else for them to do in the mini test breakout - e.g. one of the icebreaker things, say something unusual about yourself, your current location, etc.
I'm frustrated that Zoom keeps changing its interface between times I teach. I can only imagine what it's like for learners. I think having a link handy for how to participate in breakout rooms (https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/115005769646-Participating-in-Breakout-Rooms) would be really useful, as well as host controls (https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362603-Host-Controls-in-a-Meeting). For example, it doesn't seem like there's a way for the host to add themselves to a room, but participants can apparently invite the host now using the "Help" button?
Can we add it to the Zoom section of the Handbook and then link to it in the Instructor Training curriculum?
The first time using the breakout rooms takes a little longer because people have to figure out what's going on. Would it be worth using them in the intro (for example: have everybody introduce themselves in small groups in the breakout rooms) to practice using that feature before using it for a "real" exercise?
