The Reflection exercise at the end of How to Write a Lesson is difficult for trainees. It is typically much too early in the design process for trainees to be able to respond to most of the prompts.
Today, our group used the time for a very fruitful discussion of next steps, making notes about what will be important to discuss next and concrete plans for how we were going to ensure we keep making progress. I think we could replace these reflection prompts with guidance for project planning instead?
(I think the reflection prompts are valuable, though. Perhaps we can provide them as optional homework, or add a Trainer Note to point trainees towards the f1000 guide, which is where I think the prompts were taken from.)
