A {% comment %} block seems to be unchanged when converted to Workbench. For example, I'm getting a lot of outputs like this:

{% comment %} <!-- LocalWords: keypoints amd64 fce289e99eb9 zen_dubinsky links.md --> <!-- LocalWords: eager_engelbart endcomment --> {% endcomment %}
I think the correct conversion here is just to put everything into an HTML comment and remove the comment directive.
