Fixes for local updates #162

This pr fixes:

cases where nflavors(mc) should be used but isn't
cases where nflavors(model) > nflavors(field) (i.e. missing math)
allow global check to error (occasionally det fails because LU decomposition fails...)

TODO:

[ ] check if there are missing combinations of matrix types for local updates
[ ] maybe split functions up more to reduce code duplication (maybe (I - G) -> cache.invRΔ, and from there to cache.R?)
