Help with Ouster LIDAR OS1 and Cartographer #1629

Hello i need help with this topic, i have ouster os1 lidar. I want to map an area to move to desired locations and i dont know anything about mapping with real robots. I used gmapping on turtlebot simulation before.I have 3 questions.

  1. Can i map with cartographer without a bag file?
  2. If i have to record a bagfile then why it doesnt record and map at the sametime?
  3. What should i do to map the area if i cant do it with cartographer?
