Looks to be a little timing glitch with a midscreen bg split. This is the sort
of thing that real games on real hardware got wrong quite often on the NES; do
we have any confirmation of it not being like this on real hardware?

I don't know about real hardware, but Quicknes doesn't have this problem.
Sounds like a good enough reason to fix Neshawk to me.

There hasn't been any evidence offered that it's even a fix; changing behavior
to match a less accurate emulator makes no sense.
