We want to provide a general functionality to provide parallel flows in stage-structured populations, consisting of branch and accumulation points. The flow at a branch point will be directed according to a rate or distribution. Example use cases include:
Splitting a population into male or female components.
Splitting a population into and out of hibernation/reproductive dormancy.
Distributing a population for inflow into eg. a 2D delay interaction, and recombining the outputs into a subsequence life-stage.
Questions
What other use cases can be imagined for this? Is this feature general enough?
What form of functions need to be available at the branch point?
What form of functions need to be available at accumulation points? Is it always sum, or could there be some interaction?
