NICFI, Norway’s International Climate and Forests Initiative Imagery Program, of which Planet is a partner. NICFI provides regularly updated satellite imagery of the world’s tropical forests for non-commercial uses that help reduce and reverse the loss of tropical forests, combat climate change, conserve biodiversity, and facilitate sustainable development.
There are three levels of access for NICFI imagery:
Level 0 – View-only Visual Mosaics (great for storytelling, showing before/after, and basemaps with the most recent imagery)
Level 1 – Analysis download Surface Reflectance mosaics (useful for things like deforestation detection and remote sensing)
Level 2 – Select partners, Level 1 + underlying scenes + selected historical archive data back to 2002 (useful for more extensive analysis and research)
