Onboarding reproduction emad ahmed #1874

System Setup: MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1 (23E224) Chip: Apple M1 Memory: 8GB Python 3.8.18 Java Version: 21.0.3 Maven: 3.9.2

Ran into this issue but I had the wrong java version https://github.com/castorini/pyserini/issues/1867 along with the No core dump will be written. Core dumps have been disabled. To enable core dumping, try "ulimit -c unlimited" before starting Java again

also ran into an issue with m1 but this fixed it for me (similar to this issue https://github.com/castorini/pyserini/issues/938) https://github.com/castorini/pyserini/blob/master/docs/installation.md#mac
