Game strongly needs proper quest guideline for completing the game #1775

Describe the bug

Bright Nights lack of proper explanation about how to win the game. I suppose most player have no idea about how to complete the game or that game ending even exist. At the same time people see ability to win the game as major and important feature.

So it is major design problem since it prevent player from completing intended goal.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Aks where player gets info about how to win the game
  2. Answer most likely going to be "external info", like our wiki or community resources. Or most likely player will not have faintest idea about game ending at all.

Expected behavior

There are way to solve that on basic level.

1) Player gets quest: "Look for science facilities to get info about current events" in the beginning of the game 2) Player finds info on computer terminal or secret document about endgame portal. This all can be placed in treasure room for labs or other important facilities. And/Or randomly found on scientist bodies. 3) Player reads document or computer data and gets new quest: "Destroy main portal" with quest marker of Final Lab location. 4) Player goes to the lab and completes main quest.

This is basic but gets the job done and can be improved later with additional quests or tasks.

Either the Old Guard scientist or the Necropolis personnel would be good for this, the former has a mission chain that's supposed to bring you to a central lab so that might be the best bet.

Issue there is how to rewrite his mission to work as a guide, while also currently having no way for the mission-giver to know whether the lab you're being sent to is a generic one or the endgame one.

I'd say the Necropolis because that give it more of a reason for the player to go there.
