Hi! I noticed later that my colleague Stefan already did some work in this direction (and on a larger scale, I was just focussing on unit tests) in a feature branch in our fork, see commit https://github.com/mebis-lp/moodle-mod_subcourse/commit/79b16462dc6dce2cc3dc845833d7f6ea1b5ecb4f

He can surely fire a second related PR once he is back.
