Saudi Arabia flag icon fix suggestion #15

Hi, I've been meaning to contact the original source of the flag icon. I hope this is the right place. I did read the closed Issue for the flag and I would be glad to offer my help to correct the flag.

As we already know, the current flag is controversial to say the least. By looking at the poor job Flagpack did, I can see how that happened.

My suggestion would be to utilize another symbol for the country, that is a palm tree and two swords. It's used in many areas officially when not possible to use the flag. SA (2)

If the above gets rejected, then dropping the writing is a viable option, too SA (3)

Hi. I've left a response to your comment in another ticket: https://github.com/catamphetamine/country-flag-icons/issues/13#issuecomment-2231217698

It's used in many areas officially when not possible to use the flag.

Is that so? In that case, your suggestion is certainly valid, although I'm personally not sold on that idea. The suggested "palm" flag looks nice, but would other people recognize it? Maybe Saudi-Arabian natives would, but people from other countries wouldn't. "What is that flag?" would they ask. "We don't know such shapes. It looks like Saudi Arabia flag but it totally isn't".

Interesting idea, but it also looks very different from the original flag. There has to be some resemblance of the original letters. Just removing those doesn't seem correct from an aesthetical point of view.

Someone could draw another set of "quasi-letters" to replace the real letters with. The requirement is that the final size of the optimized 3x2 SVG should be no more than 2 kB in Windows Explorer:
