TimelineTrackView overhaul #1780

We have a bunch of timeline-related features that are upcoming at various urgency levels. Amongst them:

Clearer architecture: #769
Traces showing blank due to the canvas exceeding 32k-px, #1314
Better display of netlog slices as exist today [less vertical space]
Overhaul of of net data to be closer to how devtools "Network"
Better display of input latency events [not enough vertical space between them]
Hover-over-slices to see details
Click on a slice to expand/contract it
Critical path view // associated events view #1202
Constrained pan (#347) & zoom distance (#350)
Support pinning
Support UE Track views being put on ruler

This is a tracking bug to consolidate these themes together and make sure we make progress on it soon.

Do you still want to constrain pan distance as described in #350 ? It seems like it would be a nice touch. I did it in my critical path view demo.

Are there any updates on #1314? We are currently seeing this a lot in our project. Are there any known workarounds? Even just being able to tell when the canvas size exceeds the limit so we could try and re-render with a smaller timeline would be helpful.

Totally. I've been getting it a lot too. This is slowly bubbling to the top of the stack, so I'll mark myself as owning. I'm unsure quite when I can finish this but I share the belief that it darn well needs doing.
