I'm unable to use pinpoint with Firefox (recent) or WebKit-based browsers like epiphany.

This is likely due to HTML imports or something. We'll likely have better support as we migrate to Polymer 3.0. We should aim to support Firefox and Safari when Pinpoint is more stable, as per the ChOps guidelines.
