Are there any plan to add write ability for MEID? I recent rooting of my phone 
has resulted in a scambled MEID, and I'm looking for a way to restore it 
without paying more for software than the phone is worth...

but basically I think for me to release software that does that in the USA I 
may be in violation of some fcc rules, or potentially the Wireless Telephone 
Protection Act of 1998 

that being said, if you are outside usa you could probably write a script that 
might work depending on the brand of the phone

so, I agree this is a defect, but it is a defect in usa law in my opinion
