Which Google API and version (e.g. Google Calendar Data API version 2)?

Freebase APIs: Search Service, MQL Read Service, Topic API, Text Service, Image 
Service and Freebase Suggest. 

What format (e.g. JSON, Atom)?

JSON

What Authentation (e.g. OAuth, OAuth 2, ClientLogin)?

OAuth 2.0 

Java environment (e.g. Java 6, Android 2.3, App Engine)?

Java 6

External references, such as API reference guide?

It would be great if you could provide a few samples demonstrating how to 
perform basic read queries with each one of the Freebase APIs. Thanks!
