Feature: Support for multilingual AAC users #858

Hi,

We should have a short for multiple languages, and a way to quickly switch from one to the other. That would prove useful in some countries that have many official languages (Canada, Belgium, Switzerland comes to mind). More advanced AAC user would certainly benefit from that feature! Not saying that would be easy to implement though!

Thanks!

@remusonline, sounds interesting, how would you describe the UI? Is it just a simple toggle with a language list for quick switching?

I have often wondered if we could do this, but as we know it is not just the symbol labels that need to change, but the fact that a board may have been developed with the position of cells/ tiles based on the way phrases and sentences are created - Moving from a Pronoun, verb, (possessive) adjective noun or subject, verb, object - I read (your) red book today (typical grammar used in English). Dutch (Flemish) Ik heb vandaag je rode boek gelezen to French J'ai lu votre livre rouge aujourd'hui for Belgium - Should the placement of the adjective be before or after all the nouns on a board? it gets more worrying as we discovered in Arabic sample arabic english sentence
I think it is easier with boards that are simple when one just thinks of concrete concepts as happened over COVID when everyone was offering boards in all sorts of languages and not thinking of sentence creation. https://www.patientprovidercommunication.org/covid-19-tools/free-bilingual-tools/?language=arabic But with Cboard I always try to make boards that allow for language generation to enhance communication.
