Link tooltips based on attribute title text are displayed by the browser by default. No need for javascript dependencies and class="show-tooltip" etc. Browser also does reasonably intelligent placement of tooltip.
twitter-bootstrap provides semi-transparent tooltip bubbles. (Also the option to position the tooltip, which knitcitations ignores anyhow). Perhaps maintain as an option.
