Just noting that @jarroyoe added some HMM results in ec410ab963c0e4c6a52087e06abf5f641775685c, and some background on these methods in the depmixS4 vignette

@cboettig added a bit of somewhat blind experimentation with other data sims in 2d90a3e1ebd0420055be6bc4e0785b1914ad7078, e.g. this output.
