Trait data #1

Any ideas on what we should use for trait data?

@dmcglinn and @ropensci/owners I wonder if it's best to make up data, or is there some open data which we could collect across most of the species list?

The global woody database that we analyzed in the paper is available here:

I thought the other traits we analyzed (evergreen/deciduous & vessel size) are published online as part of an earlier paper as well.

From @dmcglinn I understand we can start by getting the data listed in https://github.com/ropensci/rgbif_mcglinn/blob/master/headers_commadelim_rerun.txt from GBIF? This should be organized into a table that looks like https://github.com/ropensci/rgbif_mcglinn/blob/master/gbif_raw_example.csv (i.e. headers_commandelim_rerun.txt is the column headings for that csv).

Right @cboettig for GBIF data. Sorry @dmcglinn , should have looked closer. Ah, here it is on Dryad http://datadryad.org/resource/doi:10.5061/dryad.63q27/2. Will find those evergreen, etc. traits
