I am having exactly the same problem. It worked fine for several days, but now
it
says "no connection" "!" even though clicking the icon takes me directly to my
gmail
inbox. Zooming in or out has no effect on the display.
I am running the 2007 version, on Windows XP, with Google Desktop
5.1.0708.19688-en-
pb (English)
I really liked the notification icon, when it was working!

I think I got it. For some reason, when I undock it from the sidebar, it works.
It
still works when I redock it. However, when I check my inbox, it goes back to
saying "no connection."
