What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Problem is solved. I had how often to check emails set to "0." I set it to
"1," and
it works fine now. Thanks.

Try re-entering your username and password in the options dialog. It seems like
Google Desktop changed the way encrypted options are stored and thereby
invalidating
already stored information.
