can't download multiple accounts

Which gadget does this problem concern?

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. download one copy of the gadget for 1st gmail account
2. try to download it a second time
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expected the icon in the sidebar; got nothing

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Vista Home Premium; 2007 Gmail icon

Which version of Google Desktop are you running and which language version 
of Google Desktop is installed?
Google Desktop 5.5.0709.30344-en-pb
English

I am having this very same problem.  Can only add the gadget once no matter 
what I do.

After you have installed the gadget once you need to go to the "Add gadgets" 
dialog,
choose the recent category and then click "add" for the gadget you want to add a
second, third, ... time.

This is the way it was implemented by Google Desktop. Can't do anything about 
that.
