Narrative about data migration #29

Open rross0 opened 3 months ago

rross0 commented 3 months ago

General description

Many data scientists in the public sector find themselves stuck with a poorly organized, undocumented data warehouse on a SQL server. It would be very helpful to have a narrative document, like a blog post, about how the CCAO adopted dbt and cloud data storage.

Use case

It will be used to convince people to spend money on cloud services.

Universe

No data requested

Unit of observation

No units

Data delivery format

Other

Citation and use of Assessor data

Follow up to this: it would be really cool of you all did consulting services for other local governments. If I could wring some money out of the MTA to pay you to come out and do a half-day workshop, would you do it?

That sounds fun @rross0! We're going to think about what we have capacity for, but we'll get back to you once we have a better sense of that.

@jeancochrane here's a use case: suppose I am a public sector data professional and I want to get procurement to purchase cloud data storage. What sorts of requirements should I include in the RFP.
