Christopf Gohlke's page as a package repository #27

For computers with online access, it could be very useful to connect to the
Gohlke repository from the WPPM à la Synaptic Package Manager in Ubuntu. It
would allow a speedy selection of packages to install/update. The package
descriptions can be parsed from the title row and the control panel can find
the suitable version for the installed python version reporting updates as
necessary.

That's an interesting idea, thanks for suggesting it.

However, I see one potential problem: Christoph Gohlke is quite explicit
regarding the fact that people should not download packages more than
necessary. I think that using this page as the source of a database for a
package manager is probably not coherent with the spirit of his "unofficial"
page, as I understand it.

Besides, my personnal motivation (and consequently my coding involvement) for
this feature is quite limited as I'm almost exclusively working on private
networks which are physically disconnected from the internet (for security
reasons). And when I do open source software at home (where I have an Internet
connection of course), I really prefer investing time in features that I will
actually use at work.

So, I'll keep this Issue opened in case someone want to do something about it
(after having check with Christoph Gohlke that he's okay with it) but I won't
personally take action on this.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I do not see people downloading the modules
more than they normally would with this tool. However, your other reason for
not implementing this suggestion is fair and understandable.
Thanks a lot for this very nice project and good luck with your work on private
networks.
