This verb replaces the user's version of winetricks with the latest one from 
the subversion repository.

It doesn't work for winetricks installed in /usr/bin, for one.

Also, IMHO the quality bar for self-updating tools is pretty high.  
How does one make sure it's not self-updating with something bogus?
Winetricks requires sha1sum validation for nearly everything it downloads,
and it's kind of hard to do that for autoupdates in a meaningful way.
