Can't find hibernate function. #1

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

I have installed a fresh install of winnut 2.0.0.3 on a windows 7 machine.
I am very keen on the hibernate functionality - but can't find any reference to
it in upsmon.conf - nor in the Winnutconfiguration tool. The only shutdown
types listed are "Forced" and "Normal".
The changelist lists the new hibernate function.
Please advise??

I'm not sure whether this is relevant - but in the log I see:
INFO 08/07/2010 17:06:47 Detected OS as Windows NT
I recall that winnut 2.0.0b changelog said that it now detects windows Xp and
server 2003 - so I am surprised this code is detecting NT on a windows 7
machine. Maybe this is why it isn't supporting hibernate? I will atach th log
file in case it helps.

It appears to be an issue with the recognition of windows 7.
I have changes the Winnut Configuration tool properties /compatibility to
"Windows Vita SP2" - and the hibernate option appears in the "Shutdown Mathod".
It looks like explicit windows 7 recognition needs to be added.

I note that the ups monitor component still reports "detected os is Winsows NT"
presumably because the compatibility setting only affects the "Windows
Configuration tool" and not the service it spawns. I am not sure how
satisfactory this is - and whether the monitoring daemon will correctly perform
the Hibernate. Please advise.

I also cannot find the hibernation function, which is essential for me because
I use a lot of virtualization. Using version 2.0.0.3a ..

The latest updates to SVN fix all the known issues on Win7. The OS is now
detected and the hibernate function is shown. The only to-do is creating an
installer that has this updated build.

New installer is available (version 2.0.0.4) in the downloads section. Please
try this out and let us know if you have any problems.

Are there plans to support hibernation for Windows 8 / 8.1? Currently the log
states: "Detected OS as Windows NT"
