Sync error in 6.8.2 #177

Hi Due to the latest issues with logging in and syncing, I've upgraded to 6.8.2 and also enabled debug logging in options to see some details. My recent plays are synced correct however, I'm having recurring notifications about sync error: Sync error

TLDR: I'm having the same issue. Collection is synced properly. BUT – I cannot load details about any game.

All games, plays and buddies are synced, but I keep getting similar error. Over and over again, sometimes minutes, sometimes seconds after the previous error. But the games listed are always the same. pic6686007 Before expanding the notification this error says "Getting the details of newly added games". I'm not sure what it means, as the collection is synced properly, but I cannot load details (like Info, Credits, Descr) of any game, so I bet that's it. The loading wheel turns over and over again into infinity and beyond.

I turned off the Debug setting, as the errors were irritating — and when I run the app again the next day everything would sync normally.

So I turned on the Debug and forgot about it, waiting for errors to appear. Today I got an error saying sth about refreshing stale games. And in fact, there was problem with syncing — when I opened any game the app started to sync (I saw the rotating circle, despite the fact that the details were already loaded, the day before) and it couldn't finish (see screenshot below). So there must be an issue with the Debug setting. Or is it an intentional behavior, @ccomeaux?

Thanks @Kaligula0 for the hint. After disabling debug for now it looks like it runs better. We'll see how it sync after adding new games/plays.

I move to new phone and app starts to not sync plays for me to and those sync message info start to popup. App version 6.8.1 Unsuccessful Post 307

I'm on 6.8.2.

I don't know whether the root cause is the same, but I've been having sync errors more and more regularly lately. If it weren't for the fact it seems like new commits are being pushed and maybe we'll get a new version, I'd probably switch to another BGG app at this point

Weird part of this screenshot is I haven't interacted with any of these games in the past few years except the very last one (which presumably is Rise & Fall?). Some of these games I don't know that I've even heard of them (and they aren't in my collection)! So something funky is going on.

I've switched to a new phone (Android 13) and sync error returned. As kinland mentioned above, in my case games mentioned in the error were not played for a long time (years). Screenshot_20241011-010455 Any plans on fixing it? The error notification pops up a few times in an hour. Alternative, this on the screen and "sync closed" and then the cycle repeats.
