While GLPI itself uses Atoum for PHP unit testing, I have found it inconvenient to use when compared to PHPUnit.

Atoum doesn't expose its asserters in any way so there is no IDE autocomplete or documentation support.
It also doesn't support test groups out of the box which is something that could be nice to have when developing features.
Atoum doesn't let you have a test class if there isn't a class with the same name and matching namespace in your sources.
There is nothing offered in Atoum that is not offered in PHPUnit that I would need to use.

Not a technical reason, but it is very annoying trying to Google something for atoum and it auto-changing it to atom.
