Dear developer, Would you kindly release a portable version? For those who don't have the administration access and still want to enjoy the nice function of Seer. Regards, User

ccseer commented 5 years ago

But Seer does not need a administration access to run.

Sorry I just realized that Seer needs a administrator access to install

In this case, I can provide you a version which packs from RAR On Wed, 21 Nov 2018 at 6:21 PM, Corey Chan cc.seer@gmail.com wrote:

@ccseer I would like a "portable" version as well. I can help to produce a PortableApps compatible version for you.

ccseer commented 5 years ago

You can try to invoke Seer by command line call: Seer.exe full_file_path Normally, it is feasible that set a shortcut(Space) in the 3rd party Explorer and use shortcut to activate Seer.

I am asking for a RAR or ZIP distribution. If it wouldn't be any different than unzipping the installation exe then I guess I already have what I need. I will contact you @ccseer about working with you to make it an official release.

@ccseer

Extracting the Seer.exe file after downloading works and you don't have control about a few things like QT writing stuff to the registry but what you could do is:

Add an option to not store Seer stuff in the registry but instead write it to an .ini file and if Seer detects that .ini file in its own folder on startup it loads that one instead of reading / saving its stuff in the registry...

@highend

Hi the only reason no portable version is that the license is bound with the hardware. I know it is stupid, I designed it like 7 years ago. Actually, all UWP apps are not allowed to access registry, so softwares from the Microsoft Store have to write ini file. Seer has a UWP version, so Seer works fine without writing the register.

@ccseer That's unfortunate. Seems we have to live with that...
