A few students from one section of MATH 108 expressed confusion about the assumption in Task 2.04 which states:
Assume averages and totals are taken over the total precipitation sums for each year.
This is causing some confusion about whether or not the total number of drought and non-drought years is important to consider for using test statistics 1 and 2. In other words, should 1 and 2 be considered correct answers?
@amclanahan, do you have any public thoughts on this?
Consider this in relation to Task 2.05. Permutation tests can handle a mismatch of the sizes for each group, but is the ratio of drought to non-drought years too extreme?
