no sound with asterisk #271

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. start application and connect to * server 
2. i watch the connection and registration go through with ettercap
3. even though it registers when i place a call it says "registration error
default status message" if I do it again it goes through but there is no sound.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
i call an extension that plays a sound and i hear noting even though the
server says everything is fine, id like to be able to hear. I can call an
extension with a softphone on it and it transfers and sets up the call no
problem. but no sound. i can even put the other softphone on hold and i can
hear hold music on the other softphone. 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
2.08 (siphon) 3.0 (ipod touch) Asterisk (cent os.)

Please provide any additional information below.

Same for me with 2.1.0, iPhone 3.0, Asterisk 1.4.26.1 on CentOS 5.3 on the same 
network (no NAT involved) or 
remote network (with NAT). The SIP accounts works with the Siax client, as well 
as Zoiper.
