\hat and \widehat look not great #86

I happen to find this issue, just for record. image The above image is generated from $\widehat{l} \hat{l}$.

Obviously the alignment for \widehat is not good. The problem seems to appear only when there is a single character under the wide hat.

The \hat has right alignment, but the shape of the hat looks not good to me, from the point of view of LaTeX. Maybe this is the standard for MathML?

Made some adjustments in 34802ad65cc7aa4960207fdc5bfa0a31058a3c01. Widehat was off by half a width depending on the font. Hat was changed to use 0x02C6 (Modifier Letter Circumflex Accent) instead of 0x005E (Circumflex Accent - aka the caret). Now it matches up with the symbol used for \check and appears the same height as \widehat.
