Naming and links to Home Page x2 and Dashboard #116

There are several home-like pages within tank. However the naming is confusing until you can get it straight in your head. A-The home page for the current tank - Accessed via link from Icon in top-left of page B- The homepage for Tank - accessed from a link via the Home on the bottom left of the page C- The dashboard for the logged in user - Accessed from homepage for tank if logged in.

Issue / suggestion The tooltip for A is Home, its icon is Home and yet its URL is different to B which is also 'Home'. Either A or B needs a different name to help disambiguate them.

Related issue: There is currently no immediate link to C - Dashboard from within a tank. As a workaround I often find myself having to navigate to B in order to find the link to the dashboard. My belief is that a logged in user would be more likely to want to go to C than to B. So my suggestion is that once a user is authenticated, B Home should become a link C the dashboard and that when in Dashboard, B should become a link to B the Tank home page.
I trust this makes some sense?

It does make sense. One thing you've missed though is that you can teach the dashboard from any page by clicking your avatar in the upper right? Does it get the proper mouse corsor?

Interesting. I have never paid much attention to that blue icon before. I assume that is what you are referring to as my avatar. I don't have one of those other than a gravatar for Wordpress so what I am seeing must be a default. It does capture the mouse correctly and does have Dashboard as a tooltip but I had always assumed that it was to log out which is something I have very rarely wanted to do:-) Why logout? Because it is similar to the standard on/off button on electronic products. So whilst not completely obvious I accept that this provides the link to dash - please ignore the related issue.

However, the A Home v B Home issue still stands.

Ah, okay, you're a special case:You've got no registered email address. I need to account for that in the gravatar handling. If you had one registered you would get a more unique icon there and it wouldn't look so much like a power button. I'll see about setting the default differently (I'll make another issue).

On the Home stuff, I"ll think of something.
