Fixing default_box doesn't first look for safe attributes before falling back to default (thanks to Pymancer)

Coverage remained the same at 99.875% when pulling 733dfa199bacee324c0383f87204a5b04db92fa0 on bugfix-141 into 9685a2e08a654b2c20bb2a00d94eb3dcbc6471ce on development.
