The commits that represent the final commit for 1.0.0 and 1.0.1 should be tagged and pushed to GitHub. This then makes it easier to compare files from certain releases. For example, to see if the .pot file has changed and therefore whether a string freeze needs to be called so GlotPress can be updated with new strings and translators have time to do those translations to then be pulled into the repo before the next release (i.e. #35)!
