Hello @Anthrwpos ,

Yes we did an update on this portal page.

Thanks,

Hi, @bmatthieu3

I will try to answer the rest of your questions later.

Here some of them:

Question:

What do you mean about: "what you have in the javascript/developer console from your browser ? ". It's easy for you to explain further for me to answer this?

I will check the link later today.

Thanks

bmatthieu3 commented 2 years ago

On chrome you can open the javascript console with: Ctrl+Shift+J, Then just copy paste here what you see in it. Thank you for checking the link too,

Anthrwpos commented 2 years ago

Hi,

After Ctrl+Shift+J, it shows this:

Unchecked runtime.lastError: The message port closed before a response was received. aladin.u-strasbg.fr/:1 Unchecked runtime.lastError: The message port closed before a response was received. aladin.u-strasbg.fr/:1 Unchecked runtime.lastError: The message port closed before a response was received. aladin.u-strasbg.fr/:1 Uncaught (in promise) WebGL2 not supported by your browser P_GALEXGR6_AIS_color.jpg:1 Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)

The link shows this but only after disabling "Use hardware acceleration when available": Usdntitled

If i disable the "Use hardware acceleration when available", it shows the map, but heavier when moving it without hardware acceleration.

I tried to enalbe WebGL2 in Chrome (WebGL Developer Extensions, WebGL Draft Extensions and Enables Display Compositor to use a new gpu thread.), but nothing change.

What in the update you did, changed my view in page if you know?

Thanks

We changed the engine to use webgl2. What do you have when you go to this link with all of your browsers ? Which version of Chrome/Edge/Opera/Mozilla do you have ?

Anthrwpos commented 2 years ago

Latest version of all browsers. From link: "While your browser seems to support WebGL2, it is disabled or unavailable. If possible, please ensure that you are running the latest drivers for your video card." I have the latest ver. of GC. But why when i disable hardware acceleration, it show the maps?

bmatthieu3 commented 2 years ago

Just to be sure, what is the number version of your chrome browser ? I have the 'Version 99.0.4844.51 (Build officiel) (64 bits)'

Also I checked the "about:flags" on my chrome and saw that: WebGL Developer Extensions, WebGL Draft Extensions are disabled for me

On linux there is a command glxinfo that prints the info of your supported OpenGL. On windows there seems to be an analog tool for doing that too. https://github.com/gkv311/wglinfo/releases

Can you provide the result of 'wglinfo' on a terminal ?

Thanks,

Anthrwpos commented 2 years ago

Chrome Version is 103.0.5060.66 (Official Build) (64-bit).

bmatthieu3 commented 2 years ago

From your version number (which is more recent than mine), normally, your chrome should enable WebGL2 by default, so you have nothing to do. The problem therefore could be a missing update of your drivers. What is the name/version of your GPU by the way ? Depending on the brand you could go to https://www.nvidia.fr/Download/index.aspx?lang=en or the ATI equivalent to search for new pilots.

Anthrwpos commented 2 years ago

This is latest version. So? I don't know.

Thanks

What exactly you want to know from chrome:gpu?

I want to know if you followed the steps from the link I showed to you. Maybe you can enable the webgl2 feature from chrome://gpu thanks to that post.

Also I would like to know what is your GPU. Do you have its precise reference ? Thank you for your answers,

The webgl2 is enabled. I mean what do you want to know about what is mentioned inside the page because there are too many. About GPU, I have the laterlst drivers.

Hi @Anthrwpos ,

I come back to you regarding this issue. Is the aladin lite previewer still has trouble launching in your machine ? Try this url: https://aladin.cds.unistra.fr/AladinLite/
