As a developer/operator of GC Notify I would like our Bulk sends to have a throughput that matches or is better than our SLO for bulk sending so that we are able to deliver a quality product to our clients.
WHY are we building?
Currently we are getting several alerts during large bulk sends that email sends are falling out of our SLO window. This is a good problem to have as it demonstrates that GC Notify is growing; however we need to identify a way to match the load.
WHAT are we building?
Investigate options on how to improve throughput for bulk sends including performance tuning, and scaling the system.
VALUE created by our solution
We will once again meet our SLOs for bulk sends, and also remove noise from our operations channels.
Acceptance Criteria
[ ] Run performance tests against staging to identify the bottlenecks on bulk sends
[ ] Identify solutions to improve performance on these bottlenecks
[ ] Create cards to implement these solutions
QA Steps
[ ] The team is aware of and agrees with the proposed solutions for performance
