Description

As a Sender, I need to be aware of daily limits for SMS/Email so that I can plan and send messages without running into errors.

WHY are we building?

• Without awareness of daily limits ahead of sending, Senders could be surprised to know there is a limit

WHAT are we building?

• Content throughout the template creation process to hint at the daily/annual limit
• Content throughout the manual sending process to hint at the daily/annual limit
• Content throughout the API sending process to hint at the daily/annual limit

VALUE created by our solution

• Increase confidence for Senders that they won't run into a last minute error

Acceptance Criteria

• [ ] (English) Going through the 'Create A Template' process, the Sender would likely understand their SMS/Email daily/annual limit and how their new template would impact their daily limit
• [ ] (English) Going through the 'Manual Send' process, the Sender would likely understand their SMS/Email daily/annual limit and how their send would impact their daily limit
• [ ] (English) Going through the 'API set up' process, the Sender would likely understand their SMS/Email daily/annual limit and how the system the API is connected with would impact their daily limit
• [ ] (French) Going through the 'Create A Template' process, the Sender would likely understand their SMS/Email daily/annual limit and how their new template would impact their daily limit
• [ ] (French) Going through the 'Manual Send' process, the Sender would likely understand their SMS/Email daily/annual limit and how their send would impact their daily limit

I have a hypothetical: Someone has a text message that they cannot get within the 612 character limit. They must send and they have no choice but to send as more than one text message. Now that we've implemented the text message counter, will they have to send it as two or more different templates?

They would need to edit their message down so it fits into 612 characters, link out to additional information, or consider that SMS is not the best format for their message and perhaps email is a better method for longer messages

If they must send and have no choice, then GC Notify may not be the best suited to their use case or they may need some guidance about what kind of messages are best suited to SMS

1108 has 3 components:

• Content throughout the template creation process to hint at the daily limit

Mocked up some possible designs, but recommend we modify #1108 to exclude creating awareness at the template creation stage. 5 reasons for this recommendation documented in Figma.

• Content throughout the manual sending process to hint at the daily limit

Recommend focus on creating awareness here, rather than templates, and started mocking up most of the flow but still need to do the part of the flow that comes after the spreadsheet is uploaded.
