Information architecture usability testing - October 2022 - Facilitator: @ClementineHahn
🚦 Issue severity
Was the participant able to reach their goal?
🔶 Moderate – Yes, after overcoming significant difficulty and/or confusion.
đź“ť What happened?
The task was to find out what a service designer does at CDS. 3 participants experienced varying degrees of difficulty determine which linked design sub-discipline resource contained the information they needed, because they weren't sure how the sub-disciplines related to each other on a team. To someone unfamiliar with service design, it sounds like a catch-all term that might include interaction design and content design, rather than a separate discipline. One participant had expected to find a visual representation of how different roles are linked on a team.
As a public servant learning about one role on an agile team, I need to know how it relates to other roles, so that I know where I'm going to find level of specificity I need.
đź“ś Recommendations
Review new topic content through the lens of someone with low familiarity to identify words that might be easily misconstrued and where we need to help them form a new mental model (e.g. "service" sounds very general and all encompassing, but in the context of design roles, it's a sub-discipline)
use visuals or structural hierarchy to show the relationship between various resources
Refine “conception de service” in FR to not have it mistaken with service offering

đź’¬ In the participant's own words
”Not sure if interaction designer is a subset of service design" "Je n’ai pas d’explication nulle part de ce qu’est une équipe agile... Ça explique le role de 1 des membres de l’équipe, ça n’explique pas l’équipe”
