Fix beta testing issues and implement deamon keepalive thread for Consumers #93

Relating to issues #91 and #92, this pull request fixes the long-running consumption time time-out and the monitoring infinite loop bug.

This will constitute the final fixes for v1.0.0 of the nlds-server when checked and merged.
