R-Link2 - cannot boot after update. Black screen

Hello all!

After an update, my R-link2 8.7" Talisman cannot boot and now I got a black screen. Sistem try to reboot, but still black. Attached two pictures, I don't know if useful. How can I boot, reset, go back to the first version, anything?
Any help will be very appreciated. Thank you!

@shrlnm hello brother, i have similar problem. i had 2.2.19.300 and r links opened up 40 - 45 seconds after i entered the car and i wanted to downgrade firmware to old version. usb drive loading all of them and and after r link wont start. 4 control lamb is blinking sometimes i have no 4 control car is magene. 2 weeks ago i pushed virgin mode a accidentally. car service fixed it that but current black screen different from virgin mode. can you help me for fix this :) oguzhanyldrm92@gmail.com

I may help after virgin mode but I not sure that I may help in your case. Did you try autoconfiguration with Clip?

Sorry for external link. I tried made most simplest solution for such popular case. There are four known variants of R-Link2 screen configuration. Just choose one of them and wait a minute while r-link 2 is rebooting.

Hallo everybody. I’ve the same problem. During an official update (2.2.x.x to 3.3...) something went wrong. Now screen is black, non existent activity, no ecu presence in DDT4All scanning. Happened on a Megane 4 Energy Gt Line 1.5 dci 110cv, big display.

I use ordinary adapters based on PIC chips v1. 4. They are good enough for any job. With a notebook I use usb adapters and wifi for Android. Big buffers and core clocking are only marketing, when you know how to use Flow Control in ELM

If it cyclic reboot then I afraid I can not do anything now. For repair from this state we have to understand how MICOM firmware works. MICOM is a module responsible for CAN conversation and it has own firmware. We do not know if it has some hidden functionality which may permit us to went the r-link into recovery mode or not. We also do not know how to interrupt the booting process and went the box into recovery mode by buttons. It is definitely that the recovery partition exists in the r-link2 but I do not know how to boot into recovery partition.

Hello I pressed by mistake high button on my mid display ... and now everything is working except I have black screen

I didn’t update yet to latest 3.3.16 but I just entered on dev mode in my 3.3.15, can I just do update and would it be solved? I don’t have an obd adapter

One of my friend is a mechanic and he has n obd diagnostic tool compatible with all cars, can this be used to change the parameters? If yes what are the one for mine mid megane IV 2016?

Otherwise is elm327 model ok to do this job?

@mamo83 First check that you've enabled expert mode before sending any commands to CAN. The r-link2 have to reload itself after pressing "Key ON/OFF reset"

@shrlnm I've enabled expert mode, otherwise I had an error message saying that nothing can be written in the CAN. And yes after pressing " Key ON/OFF reset" R-link2 got restarted automatically. What would happen if I use hard-reset? And are the screen settings in the 2nd screenshot right for my medium display? Thanks a lot!

Hy @cedricp ! I have a big problem!.. i suppose update from 2.2.19.300 to 3.3.16.960, didn't finished successfully I suppose, because didn't became ON after more than 20 minutes. I decided to switch OFF pressing touch button. Central panel is permanent black, now every time the instrument panel try to change the color (green) for a millisecond, think trying to boot. Now have checked with DDT4ALL and in Radnav all changes not applied, nothing happened, still black USB port don't work too. Áudio ECU not found. I try hard reset press ON button for 10 sec., press quickly or via ddt4all but nothing result. Please help me ASAP

I tried to follow your instructions on my windows 10 laptop, in the link, but unfortunately when I lunch the pyren luncher I don't get your screen, is it only for macOS?

Hello @talavi. The screen on Win10 should be very similar to macOS. The pyren works on both systems. What do you see on the screen? What version of pyren do you use?
