Is it possible to digitally record your handwritten appointments using something like Mimio's digital whiteboard assistant or possibly by engineering a bespoke ultrasonic or infra-red tracker for the nib of pens

Would this make analysis of printed handwriting possible (having full vectors giving direction and timing of the tip), because surely this is all a tablet relies on?

Maybe worthwhile looking at http://johnnylee.net/projects/wii/ or similar? Uses much cheaper components than Mimio, DigiScribe etc?

Great suggestion. I guess with two wiis mounted orthogonally, you could track an infrared point quite reliably.

There may even be a way to add a layered protocol on top e.g. each color pen has a different flashing sequence.
