Exoplanets (Kepler Era, 2009 ~ 2017): 86 addons
We are getting close to the limit of addons in the Exoplanets (Kepler Era) category. How will we solve this problem?
@levinli303 Would it be possible to expand to a maximum of 200 addons in each category?
@levinli303 Would it be possible to expand to a maximum of 200 addons in each category?
The limit was removed weeks ago iirc
@DaveBowman2001 That's nice. Do you still want to keep exoplanets separated by categories or merge them all into one again? If it's the latter, also join the spacecrafts.
I think we shall leave the separate categories now so that we could indirectly teach people that, in the case of exoplanets, these are the times when the star systems' first spotted planets were discovered.
Also since there is a Spacecraft (Conceptual) category...I'd like to fill it with design concepts that never actually flew to space but were meticulously planned throughout history, and I don't want to mix it with actual flown hardware
Title: Kepler-453 Description: Kepler-453 is a binary star system comprising of a Sun-like star and a red dwarf about 1,463.1 light-years away in the constellation Lyra. Both stars are orbited by a neptunian planet that completes one revolution every 238 days Proposed category: Exoplanets (Kepler Era, 2009 ~ 2017) Demo Object Name: Kepler-453 Author(s): fyr02 Release date: 2020-Jun-23 Link to download: Kepler-453.zip Image:
while the limit of 100 is removed, we should still not make very large categories, let's keep it under 200 (5 pages).
Title: HD 40307 Description: HD 40307, also known as Gliese 2046, is a K-type main-sequence star about 42.2 light-years away in the constellation Pictor. It has four confirmed exoplanets discovered, in addition to two unconfirmed, one of which was a former candidate planet for potential habitability Proposed category: Exoplanets (Early Years, 1988 ~ 2008) Demo Object Name: HD 40307 Author(s): AVBursch Release date: 2008-Sept-9 Link to download: HD 40307.zip Image:
- I might introduce subcategories, or nested categories in the future.
Oh nice! Subcategories would be helpful for addons with multiple versions existing

A possible solution would be to rejoin all spacecrafts that reached space, and leave conceptual spacecrafts in a separate category. What do you think?

Title: Fifth Gigant Description: Fifth Gigant is a hypothetical icy giant planet that may have existed between the orbits of Saturn and Uranus. Therefore, at a time of unstable orbits of the giant planets, a possible encounter with Jupiter could have ejected the Fifth Giant out of the Solar System. Proposed Category: Hypotetical & Disproven Demo Object Name: Fifth Gigant Author(s): Anthony-B-Russo10 Release date: 2020-06-09 Link to download: Fifth Gigant.zip
Title: Planet V Description: Planet V is a hypothetical planet that orbited the Sun just beyond the orbit of Mars. Therefore, gravitational perturbations would have sent Planet V into the asteroid belt. The same would have thrown asteroids in the direction of the orbit of the inner planets. This process would have occurred until possibly Planet V fell into the Sun. Proposed Category: Hypotetical & Disproven Demo Object Name: Planet V Author(s): Anthony-B-Russo10 Release date: 2020-06-09 Link to download: PlanetV.zip
Title: Phaeton Description: Phaeton is a disproved planet believed to exist between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. The destruction of Phaeton supposedly created the asteroid belt, including the dwarf planet Ceres. Today Phaeton's theory is disproved. It is believed that main-belt asteroids never formed a planet and are just remnants left over from the protoplanetary disk. Title: LCROSS Description: The Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS) is a NASA space mission with the objective of determining the nature of hydrogen detected in the polar regions of the Moon and also looking for the presence of water in the form of ice. LCROSS was launched together with the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter on June 18, 2009. LCROSS consisted of a probe and the Centaur stage. On October 9, 2009, Centaur split from LCROSS and collided with the Moon at Cabeus Crater, at the lunar south pole. The Centaur impact generated a plume that was studied by the LCROSS spacecraft before it also impacted the Moon. The mission was successful in confirming the existence of water ice in Cabeus crater. Proposed Category: Spacecraft (2001 - 2020) Demo Object Name: LCROSS Author(s): BrianJ Release date: 2009-08-24 Link to download: LCROSS.zip Additional Metadata: LCROSS and the Centaur

I may be 5 days late to this, but after seeing the update it works in different parts. Plus the addon itself was lumped together do to me coming up with the idea of it from a Celestia Motherlode addon with other disproven bodies. (See here: http://www.celestiamotherlode.net/addon/addon_854.html )

Title: Mars Polar Lander Description: Mars Polar Lander was a robotic spacecraft intended to study the soil and climate of Planum Australe, near the south pole of Mars. Its launch took place on January 3, 1999 and spacecraft arrived on Mars on December 3, 1999. Therefore, after the descent phase, communication with spacecraft was lost. It is believed that the premature termination of the engine firing before the spacecraft touched the Martian surface, caused it to collide with the surface at high speed and consequently, was destroyed by impact.
NOTE: This addon adds the Mars Polar Lander intact to the surface of Mars, but in reality it was destroyed by the impact.

@levinli303 I want to propose that objects of the diffuse class do not appear in Celestia's Browser. Abandoned spacecraft as well as 3D surface features are in the diffuse class and clutter the Celestia browser. Diffuse objects obviously must appear in Celestia, but cannot appear in the browser. Diffuse objects in the arrows, in the middle of the Solar System browser
@SpaceExplorer2008 I pushed out another 2022 NEOs addon update, this one is mainly a data update to objects in the catalog already.
