For Updates to Existing Add-ons

For updates to existing add-ons, please attach the id to the add-on and only include updated fields from the template. For removal of add-ons, please attach the id too.

The id is part of the link to the add-on: For example, this addon below has an id of A4577B17-4C60-0C1E-CAB5-92A604FF0EC3 https://celestia.mobi/resources/item?item=A4577B17-4C60-0C1E-CAB5-92A604FF0EC3

Check Before Uploading an Add-on

Your add-on will be running on Android/iOS/macOS/Windows, to enable maximum compatibility, please ensure that:

  1. File names referenced in models, ssc, dsc files, etc. are exactly the same as the actual file names (some file systems are case sensitive. For example if in your .ssc there is Mesh "Progress.cmod", then the file name should be exactly Progress.cmod not progress.cmod).
  2. Textures should have width/height of power of 2 (for example: 1024 512, a texture of 1000 500 will not work on many mobile devices).
  3. If your add-on requires specific Celestia versions, please mention in the description. Please also ensure that your add-on should not crash running on other versions.
  4. If you are updating an existing add-on, note that existing users will not see an update button, so it might be a good idea to include version history in the description.
  5. Please try to use smaller files for image/thumbnail/other metadata. For example, use JPG if alpha value is not needed.
  6. All images need to be in JPEG (you either choose to screenshot in JPEG in Celestia or convert using tools)
  7. The add-on archive should not include system files or hidden files (macOS is notorious for adding hidden system files to archives, avoid using macOS's default archive utility) this issue is found in many add-ons @Anthony-B-Russo10 uploaded
  8. The add-on archive must have a flat folder structure (It should try to have fewer level of folders, do not do things like A/A/A) this issue is found in many add-ons @SpaceExplorer2008 uploaded

Example:

Title: Kepler-1649 Description (Legacy): The Kepler-1649 planetary system, which is a red dwarf star orbited by a Venus-analogue and an Earth-analogue. Alternate surfaces for planet c are included. Proposed category: Exoplanets Demo Object Name: Kepler-1649 Author(s): SevenSpheres Release date: 2020-Jul-16 Link to download: Kepler-1649.zip Image: Untitled

For New Categories

If a New Addon does not fit into any existing category, you can propose a new one by following the format below:

**Short Name**: (used when context about parent category is given somewhere)
**Full Name**:
**Description**:
**Parent**: (N/A if it is a root category)
**Children**: (N/A if it is a leaf category, you might want to change children's short names to be concise)
**Image**: (must be about 3000 * 1000 pixels in size in order for the whole image to fit)

Example: For Parent Category Full Name: Exoplanets Description: Artistic Impressions of real exoplanets arranged by confirmation status and discovery years Children: Early Years, Kepler Era, TESS Era, Unconfirmed Image: image

Example: For Children Category Short Name: Unconfirmed Full Name: Exoplanets: Unconfirmed Description: These addons depict the star systems whose planets were spotted but is yet to be confirmed by follow-up observations Parent: Exoplanets Image: image

It still doesn't work on Celestia 1.5.7 Android. The Rho Crb exists but the Jestr's Star does not and two moons are missing from Earth. Sincerely @Anthony_B_Russo10 @levinli303

Anthony-B-Russo10 commented 2 years ago

@Peter592 the updated version addon has been not been uploaded to mobi yet. Levin will upload it soon.

SpaceExplorer2008 commented 2 years ago

@levinli303 Like this? If it is correct, you can now upload it.

@levinli303 Do addons like 624 Hektor, which you haven't uploaded yet, need to be fixed as well?

@levinli303 Do addons like 624 Hektor, which you haven't uploaded yet, need to be fixed as well?

check against the format to see if these need fixing

Title: USS Voyager **

this one probably does not need "Description"

Title: Venator Class Star Destroyer

This one missing "Image" in "Description". And like the previous one I do not think "Description". Plain text + single image. You do not need to add a "Description" field

@Anthony-B-Russo10 the other add-ons also still have this issue "Image" missing in "Description". And you also might want to remove HUD display in all screenshots

levinli303 commented 2 years ago

47 UMa

@DaveBowman2001 "Description (Legacy)" should not have "Image"

SpaceExplorer2008 commented 2 years ago

Apparently, it's the typical way I send addons, in the same format you uploaded 12 Victoria, for example.

If "Enceladus 3D" is correct, I'll send the rest of the moons.

levinli303 commented 2 years ago

Apparently, it's the typical way I send addons, in the same format you uploaded 12 Victoria, for example.

If "Enceladus 3D" is correct, I'll send the rest of the moons.

"Description (Legacy)" is mandatory. Also do not include "Description" if it is only plain text + 1 image.

Anthony-B-Russo10 commented 2 years ago

I updated the comments so the main image is in the description.

SpaceExplorer2008 commented 2 years ago

Includes only 1 image, and "Description (Legacy)" has been added. Since it's a simple text, I didn't put "Description"

levinli303 commented 2 years ago

because you want to include two images, you have to provide "Description", "Description Legacy" is plain text so no image allowed in this section

Correct one:

Title: Enceladus (3D model) Description (Legacy): This addon adds a 3D model for Saturn's moon Enceladus, based on data from the Cassini spacecraft. Description: This addon adds a 3D model for Saturn's moon Enceladus, based on data from the Cassini spacecraft.

I will fix the ID requirement if needed for the next two addons.

Title: X-Wing Fighter ID Requirement: EG **

@Anthony-B-Russo10 while we ID can be completely any strings, as we are using UUID for ID, we should stick to UUID. UUIDs are hex numbers and can only contain 0~9, A~F. I used F0 instead for this add-on.

Anthony-B-Russo10 commented 2 years ago

Ah ok, just as long as it works since I had never worked with the ID requirement before that point.

@Anthony-B-Russo10 also note that "Description (Legacy)" is the text one will see only with the single "Image". so you'll should not include text that references other images.

Title: 624 Hektor

Title: Tenrings

Starlink

12P/Pons–Brooks

2022 NEOs

are incorrect

SpaceExplorer2008 commented 2 years ago

In what are they incorrect? I just followed the basis of what you showed me.

You forgot to upload Umbriel 3D, Titania 3D and Oberon 3D. Also missing is the Iapetus 3D metadata and the front cover image of Tethys 3D.

levinli303 commented 2 years ago

if description only contains plain text + zero/one image. you should not include "Description" and only have "Description Legacy"

Yes, I noticed that the 2022 NEOs still had description, now removed. But Starlink is not correct? It contains "Description (Legacy).
