Your add-on will be running on Android/iOS/macOS/Windows, to enable maximum compatibility, please ensure that

  1. files names referenced in models, ssc, dsc files, etc are exactly the same as the actual file names (some file systems are case sensitive. For example if in your .ssc there is Mesh "Progress.cmod", then the file name should be exactly Progress.cmod not progress.cmod).
  2. Textures should have width/height of power of 2 (for example: 1024 512, a texture of 1000 500 will not work on many mobile devices).

Example:

Title: Viking 1 and 2 Description: The Viking program consisted of a pair of identical NASA space probes, Viking 1 and Viking 2, which orbited/landed on Mars in 1976. Each spacecraft was composed of two main parts: an orbiter designed to photograph the surface of Mars from orbit, and a lander designed to study the planet from the surface. The orbiters also served as communication relays for the landers once they touched down. Viking 1 lasted from 1975-1982, while Viking 2 lasted from 1975-1980.

Long after the program ended, it is predicted that the Viking 1 orbiter will enter the Martian atmosphere sometime in 2019 Proposed category: Spacecraft Demo Object Name: N/A Author(s): toutatis, Jack Higgins Release date: 2020-Aug-1 Link to download: Viking 1 and 2.zip Image: image

Since Haumea's rings are included by default, the "Haumea's Rings" addon adds nothing and should be removed. Here's a replacement.

The "Extreme TNOs" addon should be moved to the new "TNOs" category.

It also simulates the precession of Haumea's rings. With the default exoplanet catalog being updated, some of the exoplanet addons (those that just add the planets, without custom textures) are going to become redundant. The ones I uploaded use Replace, so they should be fine. HD 189733 will need an update though, since the system is now (correctly) defined as a binary star.

How could we get a monthly-updating "Unconfirmed Exoplanets" addon added?

levinli303 commented 2 years ago

new categories added: Stars Trans-Neptunian Objects (TNOs)

How could we get a monthly-updating "Unconfirmed Exoplanets" addon added?

we cannot do auto updating on the client side so two approaches:

  1. for every new update, make a new entry, and remove the old entry (can still be uninstalled in INSTALLED), in the description, mention the need to uninstall old add-on.
  2. reuse the old entry, but update the title to indicate the version, same in the description, mentioning it needs to be reinstalled when there is an update
levinli303 commented 2 years ago

I'm planning to add version control to add-ons though. it would be... if you are at the category page and an add-on has an version newer than installed, a red badge will display next to the add-on's name. inside the addon's detail page, the uninstall button will be replaced with update button.

Title: M 20 (Trifid Nebula) Description: The Trifid Nebula (catalogued as Messier 20 or NGC 6514) is an H II region in the north-west of Sagittarius in a star-forming region in the Milky Way's Scutum-Centaurus Arm, which is about 4100±200 light-years distant. The object is an unusual combination of an open cluster of stars, an emission nebula (the relatively dense, reddish-pink portion), a reflection nebula (the mainly NNE blue portion), and a dark nebula (the apparent 'gaps' in the former that cause the trifurcated appearance, also designated Barnard 85). Viewed through a small telescope, the Trifid Nebula is a bright and peculiar object, and is thus a perennial favorite of amateur astronomers Proposed category: Nebulae Demo Object Name: M 20 Author(s): Killeen, Bob Hagwood, gradius_fanatic Release date: 2012-Jan-25 Link to download: Messier 20.zip Image: image
