Is there any way to play with a friend? I used to remember Lan switcher was here (TBC)

Sure, it's really easy. I don't know if you have a dedicated LAN server setup, or if you are starting the server on the PC you'll be playing on. Either way, here are the steps:

1) change your server address (in SPP menu 4 - Server Info > 4 - Change server address) to your local network IP, e.g. 192.168.1.X to be able to play over LAN. X being the number assigned by your router DHCP to the server.

2) In your client computer realm list, you must input "set realmlist 192.168.1.X" - the network address of your server.

3) It's ideal to make this IP static in your router so it does not change.

Now, any computer that is on your network can connect to your SPP server and play together. Have fun!

I was unable to connect two computers in the way described here, but you gave me a hint.

I used Radmin VPN and assigned the server address to the IP assigned to me there. The same IP is assigned to a friend's PC, but on my PC it was necessary to set 127.0.0.1
